| house of the world believe or not actually started in ireland!
in May of 2004, kayel group wanted a retail concept for ireland using
unusual products from around the world. the job was given to yvette robeck,
house of the world director of marketing and design and house of the world was
born.
house of the world’s original retail concept offered
customers a unique collection of unusual items every intrepid traveler wants to
have. drawing on kayel’s vast network of suppliers and experience yvette did a
whirlwind tour of china, thailand,
india, vietnam and south africa and put together a
range of artwork, décor, textiles and collectible furniture sourced from local
artists and craftsmen.
in 2005, house of the world moved from Ireland to dubai
and opened its store on sheik zayed road. you can still see the house of the
world banner above casanova, along sheikh zayed road, which is also part of the
kayel group. in no time, house of the world very quickly gained its reputation
in dubai for an
eclectic and unique collection of artworks.
through sourcing trip to remote places in the east, house of
the world was able to identify and meet many undiscovered talents and artists.
together with the increasing demand of customers for art, house of the world
moved its business to focus on its art collection. concurrently, house of the
world interior design division was launched to meet the demands of dubai construction boom.
today house of the world has expanded from its humble
beginnings in ireland to several divisions including supplying art, décor and
sculpture to architects and designers for commercial or residential projects,
art consulting, a healthy art retail division and interior design and turnkey
solutions provider. we have moved our operations to Jumeirah Lake
Towers with a temporary
gallery in Umm Sequim. A new permanent gallery will be slated to open in August
of 2008.
